Used in a ventilation system, an air handling unit is the common area of an air conditioning system that will need maintenance at some point. Dust and grime can build up on the blades which force the unit to work harder and reduce its efficiency. Due to high condensation levels produced from the hot and cold air, the air handling unit can suffer from erosion too.
Maintenance of the AHU Unit also includes changing the filter at regular intervals to ensure maximum efficiency. Morreston’s maintenance service includes checking and replacing panel locks and seals that are also perishable parts and subject to wear and tear over time.
Often referred to as an ‘AHU’ it is equipment designed to distribute and condition air in conjunction with heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems or HVAC.
The device is constructed mainly of a large metal box which uses blowers, heaters or cooling elements. The AHU is generally fitted to existing ductwork that runs through the building sending conditioned air throughout and back again.
Other types of air handling units include a makeup air unit which uses 100% of the air outside and conditions it. This AHU does not use re-conditioned air in its process.
Some AHU are positioned outside on roofs and are called packaged units (PU) or rooftop units (RTU).
With our extensive experience in AHU, we offer a complete service to consultants and contractors with air handling unit refurbishment, AHU replacement or upgrading.
By keeping your air handling units maintained in such a way increase their efficiency and prolongs their life, whilst reducing energy costs.
Even if you have maintained your air handling unit to the highest standard, there comes a time when it needs to be replaced or completely refurbished. It is at this point when the unit has began to perform poorly and deteriorate where any maintenance costs begin to spiral out of control.
