One of the largest hospitals in the United States holds around 30 health care departments and covers over 1,200,000 sq foot containing over 700 beds so you can imagine the size of the water chiller that they require.
They currently house a 6,000 ton water chiller plant for their air conditioning requirements. The hospital is managed by automatic technology but over recent years has been experiencing problems and breakdowns, so the decision was made to convert to manual management.
After analysing the efficiency of the maintained water chiller it became apparent that was not achieving the recommended kW per ton as expected and had cost them around £800,000 more in running costs since it’s first installation.
A simple refurbishment was implemented including an efficiency monitor and now they are achieving maximum kW per ton thus saving them 1000’s in running costs.
