AHUs are part of an air conditioning system used to circulate air throughout a factory, office, hospital, etc. Connected through ductwork, air handling units are usually quite large and complex. They remove stale air out of the room and replace it with conditioned air.

Size of Air Handling Unit
The size of the unit has to be considered depending on the size of the room or building to be cooled. Is there sufficient space around the unit for maintenance to be undertaken?

Location of Air Handling Unit
The position where the unit is stored is a major factor.  The most unobtrusive location for the unit is on the roof of the building, which saves on the valuable interior.  The popular place for installation, however, is in a dedicated mechanical room.

Type of Air Handling Unit
Whether you require a heating system or a cooling system will wholly depend on the type of air handling unit you purchase.  Air handling units come in 2 different versions, direct gas-fired and indirect gas-fired. A Direct gas-fired air handling unit discharges gas using a gas burner, and indirect gas-fired units are completely sealed with no combustion.
