At Morreston we can provide a full AHU condition survey on your Air Handling Unit. It’s vital to ensure the inspection of your air handling unit and associated distribution ductwork, is in full working order.
When we perform a full AHU condition survey our trained technicians will perform a full visual inspection 1st and take necessary photography of all areas on the unit. We’ll then go on to assess the condition of your unit, ensure it’s compliant, its hygienic status and general cleanliness of the system as well as check the following:
Inspection of Casework
All internal & external casework is fully inspected to ensure there are no signs of corrosion. Next, we’ll check all panels for any signs of air leakage and ingress of water. If the unit is situated outside, we’ll inspect the casing surrounding the unit to ensure no rainwater is able to access the unit.
Inspection of Louvres and Cowls
We’ll also check the integrity of each and every louvre and ensure the cowl is fit for purpose.
Checking the Coils
We examine the coil fins for any signs of blockages and the general condition of the pipework for any previous signs of leakage as well as Inspect the drain trays and traps.
Assessing the Condition of the Filters
We’ll check the condition of each and every filter and filter slide frames/casework and inspect for evidence of incoming rainwater as it can damage the filters. We also check for general wear and tear/damage to the filter slide frames or mechanisms deployed for holding of the filters.
Are the Dampers operating?
Our AHU Survey also checks the dampers to ensure they are operating smoothly and efficiently. If the damper isn’t operating it won’t be able to cut off the central air conditioning to an unused room or to regulate it for room-by-room temperature and climate control.
Are the Fans & Motors working?
We observe the functionality first of the fans & motor, but to be honest, you’d know if they weren’t as they would be noisy. All mechanical and electrical elements are thoroughly checked such as the impellors turn freely and there are no signs of bearing damage as well as the anti-vibration mountings and flexible connections are in good working condition and show no signs of wear/damage.
Is the plate heat exchanger functioning to its full capability?
Firstly we’ll look for any possible damage to the heat exchanger surfaces and structure of them. Similar to inspecting the coils, we’ll check for any blockages. (Blockages within the coils can often happen on ac systems that haven’t been maintained frequently enough). We then check for discolouration of the heat exchanger and cracks
